Sue Roberts from Young Minds Matter (YMM) reached out to our founder Oly earlier this year after seeing some of the work he’d been doing in colleges as a part of the “Inspire Project”. A project lead by the RNN Group, which spanned across Rotherham, Dearne Valley, and North Notts College. Oly was chosen to deliver three keynote speaking engagements and facilitate mental health workshops. The ground-breaking project has since received an AOC commendation.
In 2019 Young Minds Matter launched a free 1:1 mentoring service, for any young person, no matter what their needs are. They work closely with local and national mental health professionals and charities to ensure that young people are supported in the way that’s right for them, signposting them to further support if necessary.
Schools have always been a top priority for Oly, through both the Run4YourMind Foundation and Lights On Well Being. He absolutely loved all Sue was doing with Young Minds Matter, and believes together they can make a huge impact across education. Both of our Mental Health First Aid Instructors Oly and Kate, headed over to Stratford-upon-Avon earlier this month to train the YMM Mentors to become MHFAiders®.
In Oly’s words “This is a truly remarkable group of people, doing extraordinary work to support mental health in schools. I’m so excited to see where this journey takes us next”.
Lights On Well Being have partnered with YMM to provide MHFA England content, bespoke mental health training for both mentors and students, and lived experience speakers.
