Mental Health Awareness Week

Lights On Well Being Oly Newton delivering a lived experience mental health talk for Lights On Well Being

Mental Health Awareness week was a busy and impactful 4 days for the Lights On Well Being team. Oly headed over to London for four nights, for a series of talks, and to join Kate in delivering the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA England) content.

Starting off the week off in Stevenage, Oly headed to GSK – Glaxosmithkline to deliver a talk to their employees on behalf of Overbury PLC. There was great mix of people, some from a pharmaceutical background and some in construction. Two different worlds, but the talk was very well received, it sparked some important conversations, and there’s some exciting plans in the pipeline to support Overbury PLC going forward.

The following day Oly headed over to Islington, to the Prezzo HQ. To share his story to the Prezzo Support Centre Team, for their monthly “Learning Lunch” initiative. A brilliant opportunity to support such a reputable brand, in an unbelievable setting in Greater London. But ultimately it was the people that made it. A very special day.

Finally, two days of co-delivering the Mental Health First Aid with our very own Kate O’Leary at Sky TV in Osterley. For all our in person MHFA training with Sky TV, we book a room at the Grasshoppers RFC club, of which Sky sponsors. This enables us to get their employees off campus and off the VPN! We feel this creates a safer and supportive learning environment. An added bonus is the room looks out on to the rugby pitches. We love working with Sky TV, because all the people we train put their own names forward for the course. So we know from day one they’re there to make a difference.

Big shoutout to Sky TV for giving all their employees the opportunity to sign up to become Mental Health First Aiders, with no limitations. Always putting employee well-being at the forefront.
