Cygnet Health Care in Sheffield offers a range of specialist child and adolescent services (CAMHS) focused on supporting young people aged between 12 and 18 in Tier 4 Acute, psychiatric intensive care and low secure environments. The aim of our CAMHS services is to help young people stabilise and return home as soon as possible.
Their purpose is to make a positive difference to the lives of the individuals they care for, their loved ones and those that work with them. Providing quality, sustainable specialist services that ensure service users and residents feel safe and supported.
Oly from Lights On Well Being was tasked to deliver talks across the four Cygnet Health Care wards- Pegasus, Griffin, Unicorn and Spencer. With the goal to inspire and instil hope in their service users, some of which fighting the battle of their lives. It had its challenges, but it’s opportunities like this that often mean the most. For him to be able witness first-hand the impact these services have, the difference they are making to these young people’s lives, and to hear stories from real life mental health heroes in their care, was life changing.
Leaving Cygnet after the project, Oly was hit with all kind of emotions. But “HOPE” was definitely his biggest takeaway. In his words “The culture Ali and the team have created across the four wards; the openness, the inclusivity, compassion, and quality of care provided – There really is hope for any young person facing mental health challenges. I just wish in time this type of service isn’t limited and is accessible to everyone.”
